Davidsons Homes appoints new Assistant Site Manager at Hanslope development

Two decades after entering the construction industry as a 16-year-old fitter’s mate, Tim Hill has taken a huge step towards achieving his ambition of becoming a site manager.

Following a varied career working in a range of different trades, Tim has been promoted to Assistant Site Manager with Davidsons Homes after just two years with the company which he joined in 2019 as a customer liaison technician.

Tim, who will be working at The Wheatfields development in Hanslope, said: “I feel very happy and proud to be promoted and delighted to be improving my prospects further within the company.

“I have been in the construction industry all my working life after leaving school at 16. I finished in the classroom on the Friday and on the Monday started a job as fitter’s mate helping install air conditioning in hospitals. Over the years, I got my NVQ 2 in multi-trade building which has seen me work as a plumber, a joiner, a tiler and a painter and decorator on various building sites.

“I now feel it is time for me to switch my career path within the industry and start out on a road that could see me progress to a role where I can use all my years of experience to be part of a team and maybe one day lead it.”

Davidsons Homes is helping Tim with his career choice by funding training sessions.

“The right training is a very important aspect of any job and Davidsons Homes is a great company to work for in that respect as they are making sure I get the proper tuition. The scaffolding awareness training days will be of massive advantage, teaching me about that trade. I have also completed my site management safety training scheme course and finished my first aid training level three course, which has given me some useful new skills.”

Tim is excited about getting stuck into his new role.

“As a customer liaison technician I was dealing with the customers, helping them with any snagging before and after they have bought their home. Now I have a wider role.

“My job is to help oversee the day-to-day running of the site and to ensure that the homes are built to the company’s quality standards and on time too. I am ambitious and want to see how far I can go on this path and I know the company will help me.

“I have worked in a wide variety of jobs in the industry and now I have ambitions to be a site manager. I hope that with the support and help of my colleagues at Davidsons Homes I can get there.”
