Hanslope Hornets Football Club scores with housebuilder’s sponsorship

The under-11s at Hanslope Hornets Football Club will be donning fresh new kits this season as part of a sponsorship deal with a local housing developer.

Davidsons Homes, which is building nearby at a development in the village, has paid £350 towards providing the junior footballers with new kits for the 2021-2022 season.

Hanslope Hornets, founded in 1996, has six teams with almost 100 players of various ages and abilities. The under-11s play in The Milton Keynes and District Development League.

The kit sponsorship follows the housebuilder’s donation of a defibrillator earlier this year to Hanslope Recreation Ground, off Castlethorpe Road, where the club plays.

Jack Wilson, coach of the under-11s team, said: “We aim to update the team kits every two years to ensure that each player has a new and appropriately sized kit. It has been difficult to find sponsors this year due to the impact that the lockdowns have had on local businesses.

“We’re extremely grateful to Davidsons Homes for expanding their support for the village beyond the life-saving defibrillator, now signing on to be the official sponsors for our under-11s team and helping provide them with a fresh new kit to start their new season in.”

Simon Tyler, Sales Director for Davidsons Homes South Midlands, said: “We heard that the team needed new kits when the defibrillator was installed at the playing ground a few months ago, so it was without hesitation that we volunteered to be a sponsor.

“It only seemed right to continue building upon our strong relationship with the Hanslope Hornets as well as re-affirming our commitment to providing for the local community.

“We look forward to seeing the team sporting their new kits and wish them the best of luck for the season ahead.”
