‘Help to Buy’ Helped First Time Buyers Mica and Luke Buy New Davidsons Home in Mapperley

Everyone at Davidsons Homes has been brilliant – we only have positive things to say. Buying a first home can be daunting, but the help and guidance we had from Davidsons at every stage, including how Help to Buy would support us, was invaluable.  From the initial sales support to the after sales care, they have really looked after us.

When first time buyers Mica and Luke were looking to buy their first home in Mapperley, they were aware of the Government’s Help to Buy* scheme after friends had moved to their new home using the scheme.

When the pandemic started in 2020, the couple – both in their 20s – moved to Mica’s parents’ home and decided to save for a home of their own. While they weren’t aware of Davidsons Homes initially, they were looking at newly built homes in Mapperley and knew the support Help to Buy would provide.

Mica explained: “In early 2021 we were driving past where the new Davidsons Homes development was going to be and a sign was being put up. I have lived in Mapperley all my life and loved the location, but I wasn’t aware of Davidsons Homes, so I did some research online. At that point everything was on lockdown again, so we couldn’t make an appointment to see a show home, but I liked what I saw and we decided to drive to another Davidsons Homes development in Melton Mowbray to see what it was like before we spoke to anyone.”

Mica and Luke were so impressed by just the exterior of the new homes at Chase Farm, they decided to explore their options with the Davidsons Homes sales team, something Mica was really pleased they did. She explains: “We were first time buyers and the whole process can be overwhelming, especially when the home you are purchasing isn’t even built yet. But Louise at Davidsons Homes was brilliant – she explained how Help to Buy works, the options we had, the stages we’d go through and the steps within each stage.

“The best part was we didn’t feel pressured at all; the information was really very clear, then the decision was completely ours. In February 2021 we decided to go ahead and were able to see every stage of our new home being built, which was exciting – I took pictures along the way!”

After watching their new home being built, Mica and Luke moved into their new 2 bedroom Fenny home at Alexandra Place in Mapperley in March 2022, where they are enjoying being part of a community. Mica said: “The whole community is really lovely and I have to say, unlike some developers, the houses are not all the same. The homes all have individual details, which makes the whole area look great.”

Mica adds: “We love our Fenny – the beauty of buying new is that everything is so clean and tidy, and we don’t have to worry about maintenance – things like not having to worry about replacing a boiler if we’d bought an older house. At the time I didn’t think about the energy efficiency, but Luke did. We have already found out how warm our house can be, so I’m sure we’ll benefit from the energy efficiency during our first winter here. It’s also great that we don’t have far to commute to our jobs in Nottingham and Huckley respectively, which saves on time and fuel costs.

“Everyone at Davidsons Homes has been brilliant – we only have positive things to say. Buying a first home can be daunting, but the help and guidance we had from Davidsons at every stage, including how Help to Buy would support us, was invaluable.  From the initial sales support to the after sales care, they have really looked after us. We have recommended Davidsons to friends and Luke has already said we’ll look at Davidsons Homes again when we come to buy our next home.”

Alexandra Place is a development of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes at Mapperley Plains near Nottingham. To find out more about all the new homes here, including those that qualify for Help to Buy, visit: www.davidsonshomes.co.uk

*The Government’s Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme for first time buyers was launched on 1 April 2021 and includes regional property price limits, which means it is available on selected plots. The government will lend homebuyers between 5% and 20% of the cost of a newly built home (up to 40% in London). The last date homebuyers can reserve homes and apply for the Help to Buy: Equity Loan is 31 October 2022. This should allow enough time for homebuyers to legally buy their homes before the scheme ends on 31 March 2023.
