Market Harborough has a wide range of nurseries and daycare options for busy parents. These are spread across the town to offer easy-access childcare to families in all of Harborough’s neighbourhoods. The town is home to a wealth of well-regarded primary schools for young children. Religious families can send students to Lubenham All Saints C of E Primary, the Market Harborough C of E Primary Academy, or the St Joseph’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, all of which are sought after in the area. The station is a small two-platform hub along the Midland Main Line, providing services to Kettering and Leicester, where you can change trains to reach other destinations across the UK. Regular buses running through town include the LC10 into Lutterworth, the X7 into Leicester, and the X3 into Haymarket.

Market Harborough is close to several robust A-roads that you can use to traverse Leicestershire and Northamptonshire with relative ease. The A6 connects Great Bowden to Rothwell and Leicester, while the nearby A14 can be used to get to Kettering, the M1, and the M6. It takes 35 minutes to drive from Harborough to Leicester, while you can access Northampton within 33 minutes.

If you’re wondering what to do in Market Harborough, you’ll be pleased to know that there are plenty of local activities to break through the boredom. There are two museums close by: the Harborough Museum for local history, myths, and legends, and the Foxton Canal Museum, where you can explore the rich and storied past of the Foxton Locks. Landmarks such as Lamport Hall and Rockingham Castle are also nearby for educational and leisure trips.

True to its name, Market Harborough has an indoor market located just south of the town centre. With a history going back 800 years, this trading hub is home to stalls for bags, clothes, biltong, plants, fish, meat, cheese, and even vinyl merchandise. ‘Casual’ traders are subject to change, cycling new items into the market to keep things interesting for residents. There are plenty of monthly markets in Harborough as well, starting with a Farmers Market in the Town Square and going on to include an Artisan Fair for food and crafts.

The Market Harborough Golf Club is located just south of the town, with an 18-hole links spread out across 6,100 yards. Fishing is also popular in the rural area, with plenty of water bodies to choose from. The most notable of these is the Waterloo Farm Fishery, where you can fish between 7am and 8pm and even participate in angling competitions. Additionally, you can find an array of social and sports clubs around the town, including a cricket & squash club, a bowling club, and an athletic club.

The Griffin Trail is a pleasant hiking route close to the edge of town, where residents can enjoy a peaceful countryside hike full of hedge birds, crop fields, and local landmarks. Alternatively, you can choose to walk the Great Merrible Woods, Brampton Valley, or the Mawsley Woodland Trail. The Knaptoft Hill hike is also nearby, and will lead you to the ruins of an abandoned medieval village.
