Graduate Planner/Assistant Planner

 

Description:

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Graduate Planner / Assistant Planner to join our Strategic Land & Planning team. You will be responsible for supporting the identification, promotion, and delivery of residential development sites. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across the planning process, from early site appraisal through to securing planning permissions, with excellent scope for professional development.

Responsibilities:                 

  • Assist in the identification and assessment of potential land opportunities for residential development.
  • Support the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals, and development plan representations.
  • Undertake planning research and policy analysis to inform site promotion and planning strategies.
  • Liaise with internal teams (land, design, technical, and commercial) to ensure coordinated planning input.
  • Support engagement with external stakeholders, including local planning authorities, consultants, and community groups.
  • Monitor local and national planning policy changes and provide updates to the team.
  • Assist with the management of external planning consultants and preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and project files to track progress and outcomes.

Experience:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Town and Country Planning (or related area)
  • A keen interest in strategic land, housing delivery, and the UK planning system.
  • Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); GIS or mapping skills desirable.
  • Licentiate Member/Student member of RTPI is desirable
  • Full UK Driving Licence
