Building work starts on new Uppingham homes

Construction work is now underway on a new residential development in Uppingham by Davidsons Homes, bringing forward much-needed homes alongside investment to support local services and infrastructure.

Located off Leicester Road, the development will create a thoughtfully designed new neighbourhood shaped by the town’s Neighbourhood Plan, with a strong focus on high-quality homes, green space and integrating with the existing community.

As part of the scheme, the development will contribute to the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which helps fund the infrastructure needed to support new development. This includes areas such as highways, education, healthcare facilities and community or sports projects. The development will also provide affordable housing on site, with 30 per cent of the homes designated as affordable to help meet local housing needs.

The CIL contribution will go towards a wider funding pot used by the local authority to support infrastructure needed as communities grow. Unlike Section 106 agreements, which are linked to specific organisations or services, CIL helps fund broader infrastructure required to support new development.

Outline planning permission for the development was granted in October 2025, with work on site now commencing as the next stages progress.
