Davidsons Homes supports local talent with new wave of apprenticeships
From bricklaying to engineering, Davidsons Homes’ new apprentices are learning every side of the business as part of a scheme designed to turn talent into long-term careers.
Thirteen new apprentices have joined the programme this year, with opportunities both on site and in the office. The site-based apprentices will specialise in trades such as bricklaying and joinery, while the office-based apprentices will spend their first year gaining on-site experience before rotating through key departments at Davidsons’ Ibstock head office.
Fran Beet, Group HR Director at Davidsons Homes, said: “Our apprenticeship programme is designed to give people a real understanding of how our business works, from laying the first brick on site to welcoming customers into their new homes. We want our apprentices to experience every aspect of housebuilding, so they become well-rounded and confident members of the team. Many go on to develop long and rewarding careers with us, and it’s always a pleasure to see how far they progress.”
Second-year apprentice Ahnya Cameron said her time with Davidsons has already given her valuable insight into different parts of the company.
Ahnya said: “I spent six months at our Sunloch Meadows development in Burbage and another six months at Leicester Forest East, actually working on site and understanding what it takes to build a house. I originally joined looking to become a quantity surveyor, but I’ve enjoyed working on site so much that I’m now considering that as a career instead. Davidsons has been so good, everyone is willing to help and teach me. This is definitely a great career path as there are so many different options.”
Ben Jarvis has also just begun his second year as an apprentice at Davidsons Homes and said he’s enjoying every moment of it.
Ben said: “The Davidsons apprenticeship programme felt perfect for me, as I don’t yet know exactly what path I want my career to take, so this enables me to try a little bit of everything. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed my time working onsite at Broadnook but equally I’m also loving my current position in the Technical team. The scheme really helps you get under the skin of every aspect of the trade, to help you see where you’ll fit best and where you’ll be happiest. Everyone at Davidsons has been amazing, they’re really friendly people who want to see you succeed.”
Davidsons’ apprenticeship scheme has become a cornerstone of the company’s approach to nurturing future talent. The programme provides a blend of practical site-based learning and structured professional development, giving apprentices the tools and experience they need to grow within the business.
