Pitch perfect partnership for Uppingham’s rising cricket stars

Grassroots sport in Rutland has been bowled over with support from a local housebuilder.

The youngsters in the junior team at Uppingham Town Cricket Club have been bought smart new shirts by housebuilder Davidsons Homes, which is selling the final few homes at its Oakham Pastures development and is also beginning work at a new site off Leicester Road in Uppingham.

The sponsorship sees Davidsons Homes’ logo featured on the team’s shirts, which are being proudly worn during this current 2025 season.

Simon Tyler, Sales Director for Davidsons Homes South, said: “Uppingham Cricket Club is a brilliant example of a club that brings people together, encourages young talent, and creates a real sense of pride in the area. Partnering with them is about more than just shirts, it’s about backing the next generation, both on and off the pitch.

“We hope this is the start of a long and successful relationship and we look forward to seeing the Davidsons name take to the field this summer.”

Andy Cross, Chairperson at Uppingham Town Cricket Club, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Davidsons Homes on board. Their support means a lot – not just in helping us kit out our junior players, but in showing belief in the value of grassroots sports. This partnership strengthens our efforts in helping build confidence and team spirit, and a passion for the game that will endure as they grow as individuals!”

By supporting youth sport, Davidsons Homes continues to demonstrate its commitment to investing in local communities – not just through new homes, but through meaningful partnerships that make a difference to families and young people across the region.
