Davidsons Homes takes on graduate land buyer at its South Midlands division

Davidsons Homes has appointed a graduate land buyer after he decided to pursue a career in the housebuilding industry.

Tom Wilson joined the company in September and is based at its South Midlands regional offices in Blisworth.

Tom gained a degree in rural land management at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester and spent six months working at a land management company after finishing his studies.

“After spending that time working for a land agency, I realised that I wanted to forge a career in the property style of land management, that is, in the housebuilding industry “, said Tom, who lives in Northamptonshire.

“I saw the job at Davidsons Homes advertised on LinkedIn and thought that it sounded perfect for me. I applied and was lucky enough to be accepted for the position.”

Tom said he is currently shadowing the Land Director Rachel Pramayon and Ollie Barnes, the Strategic Land Manager, at Davidsons Homes’ South Midlands region.

“Every day I am learning something new about the job and it is good to be able to have my time divided equally between Rachel and Ollie as I get insights into different aspects of the role and pick up skills from top professionals.

“I am being taught how to be able to identify a prospective site and to know why that parcel of land might lend itself to development or might be unsuitable for our purposes. Our job is to find a promising piece of land in a good location and investigate its possibilities as a development plot, and if it is suitable, buy it.
