Councillor joins the celebrations as popular Anstey development sells out

A borough councillor joined Davidsons Homes to celebrate the end of a successful housing development in Anstey.

Charnwood Borough Councillor, John Sutherington, took a tour of the St James’ Gate development, off Groby Road, which has recently sold out.

The Ibstock-based developer has built 165 homes over three phases at St James’ Gate and generated more than £800,000 worth of investment for the village.

Cllr John Sutherington said: “Davidsons Homes has provided good, family homes for the village and put the people of Anstey first with regards to affordable housing.

“In a mark of respect, the road names on the award-winning site are named after village servicemen who lost their lives in the first world war.”

“The council has enjoyed a good working relationship with the developer over the years and the new development has made a welcome addition to Anstey.

Stephanie King, Sales Director for Davidsons Homes, said the site enabled many first-time buyers to climb on to the property ladder.

She said: “St James’ Gate has been an overwhelmingly successful development, capped off by winning the Large Residential Scheme of the year at the 2015 ProCon Awards.

“Many first-time buyers have climbed on to the property ladder at St James’ Gate, utilising the popular Help to Buy scheme to secure their dream home.

“We are extremely proud of what we have achieved during our four years here. Buyers have fallen in love with the homes which we have built and the development has become a thriving community in Anstey.”

As part of the planning agreement, the developer has made a number of investments to improve local amenities, including £666,865 towards local education, £83,000 towards improving the facilities at The Nook General Practice Surgery and an extension to the village cemetery, and 36 new allotments off the Groby Road site.

Davidsons Homes is continuing to build homes in Leicestershire with new developments in Hugglescote, Great Glen, New Lubbesthorpe and Husbands Bosworth.
