Winner of Community Chest is named!

The votes for Davidsons Homes’ Community Chest initiative in Nuneaton have been counted and the winner of the award has been revealed as Mary Ann Evans Hospice.

This fantastic local charity was chosen as the beneficiary of a cash prize from Davidsons Homes, after they put out the call for readers of the Nuneaton News to nominate their favourite local cause.

Stephanie King, Sales Director for Davidsons Homes, explained: “It’s always been important for us to make a positive difference to the communities in which we build, so this seemed like an ideal opportunity to get local people to tell us where they think the money is most deserved.

“Mary Ann Evans Hospice does amazing work in the local community and so it’s no surprise that they’ve won our Community Chest. In fact, although we had originally pledged £250 to the winner, after finding out about the great work the hospice do, we have doubled that donation to £500.”

Mary Ann Evans Hospice, based on Eliot Way in Nuneaton, strives to provide physical, emotional, social and spiritual support to those affected by life limiting illnesses. They offer a warm and welcoming home from home environment for those needing palliative care in North Warwickshire and the surrounding area.

Christian Weikert-Picker, Head of Fundraising and Marketing, said: “We are so grateful for this donation which will help hugely with the running of the hospice. We are also very grateful to be nominated for the award by the local people of Nuneaton which shows that the work we do in the community is highly-regarded.

“We appreciate that Davidson Homes have doubled their donation to the Community Chest following the strength of the nomination.”

Davidsons Homes are building at their Heritage View development on The Longshoot in Nuneaton, and at their Church Fields development in Weddington.
