The Lutterworth development of Leicestershire homebuilder Davidsons has just won a regional award in the Local Area Building Control (LABC) Awards. The awards, presented at a ceremony at the Athena conference centre in Leicester, celebrate achievements in the construction industry. They reward excellent buildings, outstanding companies, and partnerships and individuals that go that extra mile.
The LABC network covers all local authorities in England and Wales and is split into 12 regions, each of which holds their own awards. Regional winners in each category are automatically shortlisted for the LABC Grand Finals which are held in London.
The awards consider a number of key areas including outstanding craftsmanship, technical innovation, sustainability and high performance, the ability to solve technical problems with creative solutions and the use of innovative products, and the skills to overcome difficult site conditions.
Harborough District Council nominated seven local projects for this year’s East Midlands awards. Davidsons Homes, developers of Royal Park, Lutterworth won in the ‘Best new housing development’ category being recognised for taking inspiration for the development from existing streets and spaces in historic parts of the local area to ensure an ‘interesting and inviting street scene’.
Davidsons will now go through to the Grand Finals on Friday 10 November 2017 at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
Cllr Jo Brodrick, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder for planning and regeneration, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Davidsons Homes and for the council. Every year we nominate those projects we feel raise the bar to a new level. Our congratulations to Davidsons. We wish them all the best for the national stages.”
Stephanie King, sales director at Davidsons, said “This is great news and further recognition of the way we design and build our homes and developments. We aim to make them great places to live and also design them to be part of the local area and community. We look forward to the grand final later in the year.”
