Housebuilder spreads festive cheer to children’s unit at Burton Hospital
Patients in the paediatric unit at Queen’s Hospital in Burton received an early Christmas present from house builder Davidsons Homes.
Children in the unit were thrilled to receive a visit from the housebuilder’s Sales Manager Clare Hughes, who came bearing gifts in the shape of some brand new toys for them to play with.
The company, which is building new homes at its Hilltop View development on Reservoir Road, approached the hospital asking which toys its young patients would most like to have this Christmas.
A wide variety of items were purchased by the developer, including cuddly toys, Lego sets, sensory toys, action figures and arts and craft gifts.
Clare said: “Christmas is a special time of year for everyone, but especially so for children, which is why we chose to make this donation to the paediatric unit at Queen’s Hospital.
“It was lovely to visit the wards and to witness at first hand the fantastic care that the staff provides for their patients. Meeting the children was an absolute pleasure and it was wonderful to see the look of excitement on their faces when we arrived with the toys.
“We were thrilled when the hospital gratefully accepted our offer to donate some brand new toys, and we hope they will bring a lot of pleasure to the youngsters spending the festive season in hospital.”

A stay in hospital can be difficult for families at any time of year but a stay over Christmas can be particularly stressful. This donation will mean than children can stay entertained whilst they stay on the ward, which can make an incredible difference.”
Hilltop View is a collection of three and four-bedroom homes located on Reservoir Road, just under two miles from Burton town centre, with prices currently starting at £192,995.
