Funding helps keep canine companions and feline friends fighting fit

A Burton-on-Trent animal charity which works tirelessly to help give poorly pets a clean bill of health has been given a boost by a housebuilder.

The team at the PDSA (People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals) charity shop in Station Street work to raise funds to provide free veterinary services to the furry friends of people who are experiencing financial hardship.

And they have been given a helping hand in their efforts with a £500 donation from developer Davidsons Homes.

The funding will help to cover the cost of transporting animals to the PDSA’s hospital in Derby for treatment and the cost of their medical bills.

Diana Bairasauskiene, Store Manager of the PDSA shop in Burton, said: “This donation is a lovely gesture from Davidsons Homes and will help to cover the costs of medication and treatment for pet owners who may be struggling financially.

“This time of year is notoriously busy for us as a charity, so this funding will go a long way in ensuring that we can help as many animals as possible.”

Stephanie King, Sales Director of Davidsons Homes – which is building the Hilltop View development in Burton – said: “Many people who move into our homes tell us that having their pet by their side is what makes their house truly feel like a home, so we appreciate the huge role which pets play in family life.
